The Locko Park Estate has been in my family’s ownership since 1747 when John Lowe purchased the House and Estate from the Gilbert family.

The name Locko is derived partly from the old French ‘loques’, meaning rags and in the 13th Century there was a hospital for lepers built by the order of St. Lazarus, behind the house you see today.
In 1790 the Estate passed to William Drury, who added the Lowe name to become the first of the Drury-Lowe’s and he commenced development of the house, estate and parkland, which continued up to his death in 1827.

When my father came here in 1960, nothing in the park, gardens or house had been touched for 40 years and he restored everything into the fine setting we have today.
